YEAR 1: Internet Culture ENTRY #1

IDENTIFY THE TOPICS

For this internet culture assignment, we are required to create a blog with a minimum of 10 entries. There are a total of 6 questions for us to research on and we can only choose one topic to elaborate. There's actually two question that caught my eye when I was reading through the topics. The two question that caught my eyes is question number 1 and 4.

Here are some summary of the both question  :-

Question ONE

Using relevant and specific examples, elaborate and discuss the reaction of graphic and/or interactive designers towards the internet.

Nowadays internet can be considered as a 'BIG THING' for everyone, especially to designers. Internet is one of the most important platforms for the designers to get their information. It is also an 'online gallery' for them to post their artwork for everyone to view.

QUESTION FOUR

What are your thoughts on the idea of originality is being challenged by the internet? Do you agree or disagree that talents and skills are now being replaced by technology? Discuss the issue using your own projects and practice.

As we all know, after the existence of the Internet, there is not much originality can be found in it. There will be groups of people that try to reproduce the same thing or even similar and claim to be theirs.

It's 21st century now, I believe most of the people will agree that more or less talents and skills are slowly being replaced by technology. One of the most prominent example is that human labor is being replaced by robots.

Bill Gates: People Don’t Realize How Many Jobs Will Soon Be Replaced By Software Bots

“Software substitution, whether it’s for drivers or waiters or nurses … it’s progressing. …  Technology over time will reduce demand for jobs, particularly at the lower end of skill set. … 20 years from now, labor demand for lots of skill sets will be substantially lower. I don’t think people have that in their mental model.” said Bill Gates (Business Insider, March 14, 2014) -www.businessinsider.my-
